Deploy an agent

Once the agent is configured, deploying it provisions the live runtime and makes it accessible to users through a chat widget, a telephone number, or both.

Deploy the agent

  1. Open the Actions menu in the agent header.
  2. Select Deploy agent. If the agent is already live and you have made subsequent edits, the option reads Redeploy agent.
  3. Wait for the status to change. The agent moves through Queued and then to Live. An "Agent deployed successfully" confirmation appears when the process completes.

Agent status

An agent's status helps you track where it stands:

  • Draft - created but not yet deployed.
  • Queued - a deployment is in progress.
  • Live - deployed and ready to serve conversations.
  • Idle - live but currently inactive.
  • Error - deployment did not complete.

A new deployment cannot be initiated while the agent is in the Queued state. Wait for the current deployment to complete before redeploying.

Set up the Chat widget

  1. Go to the Deployment tab and open Chat widget.
  2. Customize the Appearance: choose a Theme (light, dark, or system), Size (small, medium, or large), Position on the page, and Colors.
  3. Optionally turn on Terms and conditions so users accept them before chatting. When you switch it on, you can write the exact wording people see.
  4. Optionally turn on Feedback so the widget shows a short rating prompt at the end of a conversation. When you switch it on, you can write the question people see, like "How would you rate your experience?" It's a simple way to hear how your agent is doing straight from the people using it.
  5. Set your Preferences, including the Agent mode for how people interact: audio only, text only, or both. This is what the widget offers your users, so pick text only for a typing experience, audio only for a voice experience, or both to let people choose in the moment.
  6. Copy the Embed code snippet and add it to the page where you want the widget to appear.

The widget preview updates as you change the appearance settings, so you can see exactly how it will look before you copy the embed code.

Set up Phone

  1. In the Deployment tab, open Phone.
  2. Assign a phone number your agent can receive incoming calls on using "Select a phone number".

Phone numbers come from the numbers you've connected through a telephony provider. If the list is empty, add a number first in Phone numbers, then return here to assign it.

Once your agent is live and taking conversations, track how it performs in Dashboard & history.
