Budgets
A budget puts a ceiling on how much your organization can consume in a billing cycle. Use it to keep spend predictable: watch your current usage against a limit you set, and optionally have Stratforge restrict usage once that limit is reached.
You'll find budgets under the Budgets tab in Billing. The page has two parts: a Current usage card that shows where you stand right now, and a Budgets limiter card where you create, edit, or remove the limit.
Current usage
The Current usage card shows your consumption for the cycle alongside your limit.
- A large figure shows how much you've used so far, followed by your limit - for example
120 / 500. If no limit is set, the limit shows as an infinity symbol, meaning usage is unrestricted. - A progress bar fills as you approach the limit. It caps visually at 100%, and if you go over your limit it turns red to flag that you've exceeded it.
- A footer line summarizes the remaining amount. When no limit is set, it reads as no limit / unrestricted usage instead.
- The right side shows when the count resets - your billing cycle, or the configured reset date once a limit is in place.
Switching between USD and Credits
The card has a USD / Credits toggle in its top corner. Switch it to read your usage and limit either as a dollar amount or as raw credits; Stratforge converts the figures for you. This toggle is for display only - it doesn't change your budget.
While you're editing a limit, the USD / Credits toggle on the usage card is temporarily disabled so your display unit stays consistent with what you're entering.
The budget limiter
The lower card is where the budget itself lives. Its header shows the title and a status badge:
- No limit currently set - no budget is active; usage is unrestricted.
- Limit enabled - a budget is in place and being enforced.
Its purpose, stated on the card, is to restrict usage once the configured limit is reached.
Creating a budget
When no limit exists yet, the card shows a single switch. Turn it on to start setting a limit - this opens the edit form. In the form you choose:
- Type - whether you're entering the limit in USD or Credits.
- Frequency - how often the budget resets: Daily, Weekly, or Monthly. The form shows the matching reset on date next to the selector so you know when the next cycle begins.
- Amount - the limit value.
- Equivalent in... - a read-only field that shows your amount converted into the other unit (credits if you entered USD, USD if you entered credits), so you can see both sides of the limit as you type.
When your entry is valid, a Save button appears. Use Cancel to back out without saving.
You can't set a limit below what you've already used this cycle.
The confirm flow
Saving a budget doesn't take effect on the spot - Stratforge asks you to confirm first. A dialog opens with a warning banner (for example, that you're about to enable or update the budget limit) and a summary panel showing the amount, the frequency, and the cycle reset date you chose. Review those details, then choose Confirm to apply the budget or Cancel to go back. Once confirmed, you'll see a success confirmation.
Editing an existing budget
When a limit is already in place, the card switches to a view that lays out the saved amount, frequency, and cycle reset date. Two actions are available:
- Edit - reopens the form so you can change the amount, type, or frequency. Saving an update goes through the same confirm dialog, this time noting that you're updating the limit.
- Remove - deletes the budget entirely.
Removing a budget
Choosing Remove opens a confirmation dialog styled as a destructive action. It warns that removing the limit will lift usage restrictions and spending caps for the current billing cycle. Confirm to delete the budget; afterward the card returns to its no-limit state and usage is unrestricted again. You'll see a confirmation that the limit was removed.
If you reason about spend in dollars, set the budget in USD; if you track product consumption in credits, set it in credits. The equivalent field keeps both visible either way, and the usage card can always be flipped to whichever unit you prefer.
